Setting up Trustpilot integration

The Trustpilot integration lets you automatically send verified review invitation links to customers after service completion. Reviews generated this way are marked as "Verified" by Trustpilot — which carries more credibility than public review links.

TL;DR

Requires Trustpilot Connect addon or Enterprise plan. Setup: (1) Create API app in Trustpilot with leadvalidator.dk as redirect URI. (2) Add API key + secret in Hubhus → Integrations → Trustpilot. (3) Authenticate. (4) Add Business Unit. (5) Map email/name/reference in campaign Trustpilot settings. (6) Use @trustpilot_invitation_url[] in email templates. For verified reviews: customer email, name, and Reference ID must all be present.

Get started in 7 steps

1

Create a Trustpilot API application

In Trustpilot: Integrations → Developers → APIs → New application. Name it "Hubhus". Under "Redirect URIs", add leadvalidator.dk. Save and copy the API Key and API Secret.

2

Add API key to Hubhus

In Hubhus: Account → Integrations → Trustpilot → New Trustpilot API Key. Enter the Application name, paste the API Key and API Secret. Click Create and authenticate.

3

Authenticate with Trustpilot

You'll be redirected to Trustpilot to log in with your business credentials and grant Hubhus access. After authorizing, you're redirected back to Hubhus.

4

Add a Business Unit

Click New Business Unit. Select which campaigns can send invitations from this unit. Search for your Trustpilot business name or domain (e.g. "Hubhus.dk"). Click Update search then Add. Note: your authenticated API key must have access to the business unit.

5

Activate business unit on campaign

In each campaign that will send review invitations, activate the business unit in the campaign's Trustpilot settings. Map: customer email, customer name, and Reference ID to the correct campaign placeholders. These three fields are required for verified reviews.

6

Add invitation placeholder to email template

Use this placeholder in any email template to generate a unique invitation link per customer:

@trustpilot_invitation_url[]
7

Automate invitation sending

Create an automation rule or action listener: trigger on "status changes to Completed" (or similar), action: "Send email" with your Trustpilot template. Common timing: 1–7 days after service completion, while the experience is still fresh.

Verified vs public reviews

Verified (all 3 fields present — email, name, Reference ID): Link is unique and authenticated. Review is marked "Verified" by Trustpilot — higher trust value.

Public (missing data): Customer must authenticate themselves. NOT marked as verified. Still allows submission but with less credibility. Always ensure customer data is complete.

Troubleshooting

  • "Not activated Trustpilot API Keys": create and authenticate an API key first
  • Cannot find business unit: verify business name/domain is correct; check your account has access
  • Invitation links not working: verify API key is authenticated, business unit is active on campaign, and all 3 customer data fields are mapped
  • Reviews not verified: check all 3 fields (email, name, Reference ID) are populated and correct

Common searches

trustpilot integration • review invitation • verified review • trustpilot setup • @trustpilot_invitation_url
