Configuring SMS settings
SMS settings allow you to monitor SMS spending, set cost limits, and receive notifications when expenses reach specified thresholds — preventing unexpected bills from automated SMS sending.
TL;DR
Go to Account → SMS settings → Edit. Set a notification threshold (alert when spending reaches X DKK), an optional hard maximum (blocks SMS sending when hit), and an email recipient for alerts. 1 SMS = 160 characters — messages over 160 chars count as multiple units. Monthly billing history is shown for the last 4 months.
3 things to know
Notification threshold and hard maximum
Click Edit on the SMS settings page. Set Notify when monthly bill reaches DKK: X to receive an email warning before hitting your limit. Set Max. monthly SMS bill to block all further SMS sending once that amount is reached — resets automatically on the 1st of each month. Leave max as "No max" if you prefer warning-only alerts.
SMS unit pricing and character limits
One SMS unit = 160 characters. A message longer than 160 characters counts as multiple units. Examples at 0.20 kr/unit: 100 messages × 150 chars = 20 kr. 100 messages × 200 chars = 40 kr (2 units each). Keep templates under 160 characters when possible. Avoid special characters and emojis — they can trigger Unicode encoding, further reducing the effective character limit per unit.
Monthly billing history
The page shows current month and previous 3 months spending. Use this to identify unusual spikes and calibrate your notification thresholds.
