How to edit SMS templates

Create and edit SMS templates with dynamic lead data, booking times, and assigned person info. Use CTRL+K to find placeholders, keep messages short, and test before activating in automations.

TL;DR

Campaign Settings → SMS → New/edit template. Write the message text, insert placeholders with CTRL+K. Keep under 160 chars (GSM-7) to avoid multi-segment billing. Test by triggering via a test lead and checking SMS logs. Optional: enable quick-send button on lead profile or calendar events.

Get started in 4 steps

1

Go to Campaign Settings → SMS → New template (or click an existing one to edit). Give it a clear name.

2

Write the message body. Use CTRL+K / CMD+K to search and insert placeholders — lead fields, event times, assigned person, custom fields. Example: Hi %lead_firstname%, your booking is confirmed for %event_datetime%.

3

Keep messages short: Standard SMS uses GSM-7 encoding (160 chars). Special characters reduce this limit. Long messages are automatically split into segments and billed per segment.

4

Test the template by triggering it via a test automation or sending manually from a lead's profile. Check Account → SMS logs to confirm delivery.

Placeholders: CTRL+K / CMD+K  ·  Quick-send: enable on lead profile or calendar events for one-click sending  ·  GSM-7 limit: 160 chars per segment

Available placeholders

SMS templates support all standard Hubhus placeholders:

  • Lead fields: %lead_firstname%, %lead_email%, etc.
  • Event/booking: %event_datetime%, %event_address%
  • Assigned person: %assigned_person_name%, %assigned_person_phone%
  • Custom fields: {{your_custom_field}}
  • Date/time: use date format placeholders or hh-date.format

Quick-send buttons

Each SMS template can be made available as a quick-send button for users — accessible directly from the lead profile or from calendar event details. This is useful for standard communications like booking confirmations or address requests.

Enable this in the template settings. Note: this only affects where the button appears, not whether the SMS is allowed to send.
