Trusted IP addresses allow you to restrict access to your Hubhus account so that users can only log in from specific IP addresses or networks. This adds an extra layer of security by ensuring access is limited to approved locations.

What are trusted IP addresses

A trusted IP address is an IP address or IP range that you explicitly allow for login access to Hubhus. When IP restrictions are enabled, users attempting to log in from any other IP address will be blocked, even if they have valid credentials.

Accessing trusted IP addresses

Go to Account → Users, then click the Trusted IP addresses tab at the top of the page. Here you can view, add, and manage the list of approved IP addresses.

When to use IP restrictions

IP restrictions are useful when you want to ensure users can only access Hubhus from:

  • Office networks
  • VPN connections
  • Specific remote locations
  • Secure environments

This is particularly important for organizations handling sensitive data or requiring strict access controls.

Adding a trusted IP address

To add a new trusted IP address, you typically need to specify:

  • The IP address or IP range (e.g., 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.0/24)
  • An optional description to identify the location or purpose

Once added, only users connecting from that IP address will be able to log in.

Managing the IP whitelist

You can view all trusted IP addresses in the list, along with their descriptions. To remove an IP address from the whitelist, use the delete option next to the entry. Be careful when removing IP addresses, as this could lock out users who rely on that network for access.

How IP restrictions affect users

When IP restrictions are active, users attempting to log in from non-whitelisted IP addresses will receive an access denied message. Make sure to:

  • Communicate IP restrictions to your team
  • Ensure all necessary office and remote IPs are whitelisted
  • Provide VPN access if users need to work from outside approved networks

Security considerations

IP restrictions provide strong security but should be combined with other measures:

  • Use two-factor authentication (2FA) for additional protection
  • Regularly review and update the IP whitelist
  • Monitor login attempts for suspicious activity
  • Ensure static IP addresses for locations that need consistent access

Dynamic IP addresses (common with home internet) can cause access issues, so consider using VPN solutions for remote workers.

Summary

Trusted IP addresses allow you to restrict Hubhus access to approved networks, adding a critical security layer for sensitive data. Add IP addresses or ranges to the whitelist, manage the list regularly, and combine with 2FA for maximum security. This ensures only users from known, trusted locations can access your account.
